A bonded pair of Sandhill Cranes dancing in the first light of the morning. Their stage, at Sparks Lake, Oregon, makes their choreography even more magical! These are one of my absolute favorite bird species and I could watch them for hours. Every summer I wait for them to grace our Oregon wilderness with their presence, and hearing their distinctive calls always fills me with excitement! This oil painting came from the days spent out at Sparks Lake, watching and listening to these special beings.
